u4gm Strategy for MLB The Show 26 Ernie Clement Guide

Glico

Ernie Clement's 99 OVR Cover Athletes card in MLB The Show 26 is worth examining for a practical reason: it can solve several infield problems without demanding a complete lineup rebuild. Players deciding where to spend their MLB 26 stubs should look past the headline rating and ask whether Clement fits their batting approach, defensive alignment, and available roster slots.

What the Card Actually Does Well

Clement is built for contact-oriented lineups. His 118 Contact against left-handed pitching, 115 Contact against right-handed pitching, and 111 Vision support controlled at-bats and reliable ball flight. He is not the ideal choice for someone who wants every hitter to threaten the seats, but he can keep innings moving with line drives and well-placed swings.

His Power ratings tell the more complete story: 92 against left-handed pitching and 80 against right-handed pitching. That is enough to punish mistakes, especially when facing a lefty, but it should be treated as supporting value rather than the card's main identity. Clement rewards players who read pitch location and avoid turning every plate appearance into a power contest.

Why Position Flexibility Matters

The strongest reason to use Clement is his coverage across second base, shortstop, third base, and first base. That range matters whenever several valuable infielders share a preferred position. Rather than leaving one player on the bench or accepting a poor defensive fit, Clement can help rearrange the group.

His flexibility is especially useful during lineup changes. A player may begin at second base, move to shortstop when another infielder enters, or cover first base while preserving a stronger defensive setup elsewhere. This makes Clement more than a fixed starter; he is a roster piece that gives other cards room to function.

◆ Use him at the position where his contact bat is most valuable and the defensive workload is reasonable.

◆ Keep his eligibility in mind when building around other high-rated infielders.

◆ Treat him as a structural solution, not an automatic replacement for every elite defender.

The Defensive Trade-Offs

The defensive numbers require sensible placement. The card lists 82 Fielding and 70 Arm, so eligibility does not mean identical performance at every spot. Second base is the easiest fit because the full package feels balanced there. Shortstop and third base deserve more care, since the arm rating becomes more noticeable on difficult throws.

This does not make Clement unusable in those positions. It simply means players should consider the rest of the infield before locking him into a role. If another card brings better defense but less offensive reliability, Clement may be more valuable at the position that protects the lineup's weakest link.

Who Should Use Ernie Clement?

Clement suits players who value dependable contact, flexible roster construction, and at-bats built around timing rather than maximum power. He is also a sensible option for a developing lineup that cannot afford to reserve a separate specialist for every infield position.

His real-life profile helps explain the card's design. During the 2026 season, Clement became a dependable everyday contributor, earned All-Star recognition, and posted a.298 average with a.751 OPS on the official player page. His timely extra-inning home run and key throw to the plate in early August also reflect the balanced identity represented by the card.

Players who demand elite arm strength or constant home-run pressure may prefer a different centerpiece. For everyone else, Clement is valuable because he combines high contact with meaningful positional freedom. If that flexibility fills a genuine gap, using buy MLB 26 stubs resources on the card can make sense, but the decision should come from roster needs rather than the 99 OVR label alone.
